About Us

Westney Heights Public School is a diverse school of students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8. Located in north Ajax since 1984, there are 18 classes in the school, including 2 small classroom that facilitate our Developmental Program and 1 small classroom that facilitates our Structured Learning Program. Westney Heights is classified as a 'community use school’, which means that our large school gym is in almost continuous use by community groups and town-sponsored programs after school hours and on the weekends.

Mission statement

"Together We Learn" has been the longstanding mission statement at Westney Heights.  However, we are committed to taking this mission statement on step further. Here at Westney Heights, we believe that all students are leaders. We empower students to contribute to the classroom and community, be collaborative problem solvers and embrace and share their individuality. Students who feel they have a voice and impact in school will be engaged, grow academically and socially, feel successful and achieve.

Principal’s message

Welcome to Westney Heights!

We would like to take the opportunity to welcome new students, parents and staff to Westney Heights Public School. We wish you all a happy and successful school year.

We are very proud of the accomplishments of the Westney Heights students, staff and community members who consistently reach high in all endeavours. We have many reasons to feel great about our academic achievements. Our school community is certainly a place where each child has the opportunity to reach a high level of achievement and develop the knowledge, skills and values to become a responsible member of our Canadian society.

I am very happy and privileged to be the Principal of Westney Heights and thankful for the strong support of our Vice Principal, Mrs. Baxter. I also recognize the wide range of knowledge, expertise, care and commitment our Administrative Assistant Mrs. Krissilas brings to our school.

We know that you will join us in thanking Ms. Dobney and her custodial team for their outstanding dedication and hard work in preparing our school building and grounds for our students and staff. We are very proud of our custodial team and the work they have achieved in providing our community with a learning environment that is safe and welcoming.

Regular communication between home and school is essential for optimum learning. The newsletter is posted on our website regularly. Classroom teachers will reach out to you in the first week of school to share with you their preferred means of communication. Please check our website, "X" (formerly Twitter), Instagram and Facebook accounts for updates and information concerning programs, events and happenings at Westney Heights. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We very much appreciate your support and suggestions as we continue to honour the partnership of students, staff, parents and community partners as members of our unique community. Together, we learn. Together we have made a difference and together we can achieve even more!

Sincerely,

N. Thomas
